Introduction to Textiles:

Course Description

This unit provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental building blocks of the fashion industry: fibers and fabrics. Students will explore the journey of a textile from its origin as a raw material to its final form as a wearable garment.

The course bridges the gap between scientific understanding and creative application, ensuring that designers can make informed decisions about fabric selection based on performance, aesthetics, and sustainability. Under the guidance of Madam Neema Kimuna, students will develop a "material-first" approach to design, mastering the technical vocabulary and physical testing methods used by industry professionals.
